Goodson Named Employee of the Month

Melissa Goodson has been named the March Employee of the Month at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

Melissa is a Registered Nurse and has worked at MRMC for 18 years.  She currently works in the Continuum of Care Department.

Melissa and her husband, Mark, have two children, Sarah and Jarred.

Employees Begin Weight Loss Challenge

More than 80 MRMC Employees have begin a 21-week long weight loss challenge.  The event, which kicked off March 5, is designed to encourage employees to move toward a more active and healthy lifestyle.

Employees have created six-member teams to compete in weight loss challenges, activity challenges, and more.  The event began with employees attending an orientation and participating in the initial weigh-in.

Employees will weigh in on a bi-weekly basis, with the final weigh-in scheduled for July 31.

Team prizes will be awarded throughout the challenge, and individual prizes will be awarded when the challenge concludes.

New Year's Baby 2013

Magnolia Regional Medical Center welcomed the first baby of the new year on Tuesday with the birth of Sloane Elizabeth Waller.

Sloane was born January 1, 2013, at 10:43am to Jamie and Caroline Waller of Magnolia.
 



Grandparents are Sammie & Kay Waller, David & Mary Cole, and Bill Talbot.  Great grandparents include Doris & the late Travis Waller, and the late Weldon & Evelyn Furr.

Dr. Chester Wynn was the attending physician.

MRMC Welcomes New Physician

Magnolia Regional Medical Center announces the addition of Dr. Reid Pierce to the Magnolia medical community.  Dr. Pierce specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Pierce will see patients at the Magnolia Women's Center beginning in mid-January.  The Magnolia Women's Center will be located at 707 N Washington in the former Rural Health building.

Dr. Pierce received his medical training from Tulane University and completed his OB/Gyn training at the University of Virginia.  He has been in practice for over 26 years in Pine Bluff.  He is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics/Gynecology and holds his Fellowship in the American Congress of Obstetrics/Gynecology.

Dr. Pierce and his wife, Barbara, will make the move to Magnolia at the end of the year.  They have five adult children.

Kid's Health Fair & Fall Festival

Magnolia Regional Medical Center invites area children to attend a Fall Festival and Kid's Health Fair event on Monday, October 29th from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.  The event will take place at the LifeSmart Center, located at 1005 N Jackson.

The event will feature free pumpkin decorating as well as face painting, a bounce house, and tours of emergency vehicles.

Education booths will be provided by Magnolia Regional Medical Center, Magnolia Police Department, Magnolia Fire Department, Smiles of Arkansas, Columbia County Ambulance Service, AHEC - South Arkansas, AR Children's Burn Unit, Columbia County Health Unit, Serenity Hospice, Kid's First, Quota of Magnolia, and the MHS Nursing Assistant Program.

Attendees will be eligible to win door prizes.

The event is for children ages 3-10.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.
